The new ABACUS C-Box 3. The new mini-box will use Dolifet amplifiers (Drain-Output Load-Independent Field Effect Transistor) for even more control and dynamics. And the new bass/midrange drivers from Wavecor provide even more \"punch\". The features are as follows.
The ABACUS C-Box series is probably the most compact solution for high-end audio on the desk, at the flat-screen TV, in the study, in the kitchen - in short, wherever space is limited but great sound is required. The C-boxes contain two fully-fledged ABACUS Dolifet amplifiers with an active crossover. Thanks to ABACUS technology, the frequency response extends to below 35Hz despite the small dimensions.
The ABACUS C-Box now offers an extremely compact solution for real high-end hi-fi at the desk or on the TV. Thanks to the special circuit technology and the closed design, precise, natural bass down to below 35Hz is possible. While the volume of the C-Box 3 is generally sufficient for the desk or TV sound, the C-Box 4 is also capable of handling a full-blown listening situation. In combination with a subwoofer or as a surround extension with full-size front speakers, even higher room volumes are no longer a problem.
For use at a desk or in a recording studio, it is particularly important that the speakers only emit sounds when they are supposed to. Disturbing noises such as hissing and humming are particularly undesirable here. Thanks to the extremely short and compact analog signal processing in the C-Box, there are only a few active and passive components on the way to the loudspeakers. This reduces the inherent noise level to a minimum.
Ring radiator tweeter
The 1\" ring radiators give all models in the C-Box series their characteristic appearance. In this tweeter design, a small diaphragm is firmly mounted in the center around a small phase plug. The voice coil is located in the middle between the plug and the outer suspension. These tweeters are ideal for use in the near-field due to the resulting slight bundling behavior. In addition, these tweeters allow a flat coupling to the bass-midrange drivers, which means that the signal processing of the C-box can be very compact.
Technically speaking, the tweeters of the C-Box 3 and C-Box 4 are virtually identical, except that the smaller one has a compact, strong neodymium magnet on the back and the larger one has a powerful ferrite magnet. The fact that the C-Box 4 has the tweeter with the larger front panel is mainly for visual reasons.
The current generation of the C-Box series uses low-midrange drivers from Wavecor. These drivers have excellent performance data and a fiberglass-reinforced cone ensures sufficient strength for bass equalization.
