The latest addition to the series, the Trifon 5X, was introduced as the new top model with a slightly more powerful power supply and its own tuning. The 5X is a full-size floorstanding loudspeaker with three 22 cm woofers with a lightweight cone for great dynamics and at the same time abysmal bass with unreasonable maximum levels if necessary. The bass is supported by a 15 cm midrange driver and the proven Air Motion Transformer tweeter. The arrangement of the drivers was chosen in such a way that the dispersion behavior and room excitation remain good-natured even with the slightly larger dimensions of the loudspeaker. Despite the slightly adapted tuning, the basic signal processing is identical to the other models and there are also major similarities in tonality and phase behavior
AMT Tweeter
The Air Motion Transformer (not to be confused with the visually similar \"ribbon\") is a special sound transducer whose basic principle was developed by Dr. Oskar Heil. Unlike conventional cone or dome tweeters, which in principle use a piston-like back and forth movement to displace or suck in air, here an accordion-like folded foil is moved in the magnetic field, which pushes air out of its gaps or sucks it in. This principle means that less mechanical material movement is required to generate the same sound pressure and acoustic distortions are reduced. Due to their geometric design, the sound of AMTs is somewhat more focused vertically as the frequency increases. This can have sonic advantages because reflections from the floor and ceiling are reduced.
