Amphion One18X represents the next evolutionary step of the iconic One18 – a modern, reliable studio workhorse trusted by professionals primarily for its exceptionally faithful translation and natural sonic character. The X variant introduces a major technological advancement, featuring a newly developed, extremely linear tweeter with ultra-low distortion and a redesigned crossover network. The result is higher resolution, improved transient clarity, extended high-frequency range, and an unusually tangible, almost three-dimensional spatial image. One18X retains the character of a dependable nearfield monitor while simultaneously setting a new reference standard within its class.
Thanks to point-source radiation, exceptional phase coherence, and time-aligned drivers, One18X delivers precise stereo imaging and confidence that mixes will translate reliably to any playback system. The DSP-free design ensures maximum signal purity and full compatibility with external converters and room-correction solutions. The monitor is easy to position, remains clear and engaging even at low listening levels, and performs reliably in acoustically challenging spaces. Compared to the original version, the X variant offers radically reduced distortion, improved linearity, and increased robustness, including easy replacement of the tweeter voice coil.
Structurally, One18X is a two-way passive monitor with a passive radiator, equipped with a 1″ titanium tweeter and a 6.5″ aluminum woofer. The 1600 Hz crossover point supports point-source behavior and contributes to exceptional phase coherence.
