The RL 940 is a main control room monitor designed for use in medium and small sound, video and film studios. The coaxial configuration of the drive units delivers a sound stage with outstanding authenticity and consistency of imaging. With the focal perspective optimised for mid-distance monitoring, an excellent depth of field with neutral colouration is achieved. The loudspeaker also distinguishes itself at high listening volumes through the presence of exceptionally low levels of non-linear distortion. A tuned bass-reflex, with uncompromising impulse response allows the low frequency response to extend to 38 Hz. The total system is additionally optimized for group delay.
The two channel MOSFET amplifier with an electronic crossover is integrated within the rear of the enclosure, hinging out for maintenance purposes. An intermittent flashing LED indicates when the level reaches the system overload threshold. If the maximum level is exceeded continuously, the output level is attenuated by 20 dB to protect the components from damage.
The system drive units can be rotated through 90° to allow the loudspeaker to be placed upright, or horizontally. Two infinitely variable low frequency controls provide separate adjustment of two frequency bands to enable the frequency response to be matched to the acoustic environment of the listening room.
A range of dedicated stands and mountings are available as accessories, the appropriate fittings for the stands or mountings are supplied integrated into the loudspeaker cabinet during manufacture. The loudspeaker can be supplied with magnetic shielding if requested.
